What does Circular C807 say?
With Circular C807, dated 13 October 2026, CySEC informs its regulated entities that AMLA, the EU's Anti-Money Laundering Authority, plans to draft Guidelines on simplified customer due diligence. To prepare them, AMLA is organising sectoral roundtables for representatives of obliged entities, trade associations and other representative bodies from the financial and non-financial sectors.
The roundtables will discuss how simplified customer due diligence applies in situations with a lower degree of money laundering and terrorist financing risk, and let participants share sectoral experience and practices. They are expected to take place in person in Frankfurt am Main between 9 November and 2 December 2026. CySEC says it fully supports AMLA's roundtables approach and welcomes expressions of interest from its regulated entities.
How do firms take part?
Stakeholders submit an expression of interest through the EU Survey form linked from AMLA's announcement, by 18 October 2026 at 23:59 CEST. AMLA's call for expressions of interest sets out eligibility, selection and practical arrangements. AMLA particularly encourages representatives of the non-financial sector and of sectors that face specific customer due diligence challenges.
Taking part is voluntary and the circular creates no obligation. AMLA stresses that the roundtables are not a public consultation: a formal public consultation on the draft Guidelines will follow.
Why does this matter for Cyprus firms?
AMLA says the feedback from the roundtables will inform its draft Guidelines on applying simplified customer due diligence proportionately in lower-risk situations. Participants share the experience and practices of their sector.
